The Winking Lizard Launches the 2012 World Tour of Beers!

Tomorrow begins a new year, bringing all the promises and potentials that come with a fresh start. If your New Years resolution is to learn more about different styles of beer, the Winking Lizard World Tour of Beers is a great place to start! But you already know that. Odds are if you’re reading my site you are probably a veteran of a few complete tours of duty. So why sign up for another year? Here are some highlights of the 2012 World Tour that should get anyone excited!

-Brew Kettle White Rajah will be available year-round in bottles!

-Speaking of The Brew Kettle, Bedford, Brunswick and Avon will have a dedicated tap handle to the Brew Kettle this year. Highlights include Jackhammer Barleywine in January and the announcement of Black Rajah, the award winning White Rajah’s evil twin set to tap in September.

-Three Floyds is a part of the Beer for Two program along with some great big bottles from Belgium, Italy and the good old USA.

-The Bruery program is back with the HUGE announcement of White Oak and Oude Tart hitting distribution for the first time ever!

-The Stone collaboration with Fat Heads will be the March 2012 glass of the month!

-Great Lakes, Sierra Nevada, Dogfish Head, and Stone are back with dedicated handles at all stores. Additionally, Goose Island, Thirsty Dog and Brooklyn Brewing will have a dedicated handle at most stores.

-Another batch of Jolly Pumpkin Bambic (Blend 3) will be on the bottle list along with La Trappe Oak-Aged Quadruple Batch 7 and Hoppin’ Frog BORIS the Crusher (marking Hoppin’ Frog’s debut on the tour)!

- Victory Lizard Bock and super-yummy Zeltbier will make draft appearances

-Ayinger has a dedicated handle at 7 stores and Jarhundert and Altbarishe Dunkel will be flowing at the bookends of the year

-As always, there will be killer events the Lizard has planned, including the 3rd annual Barleywine Festival on Feb 18th and the Cask Conditioned Festival on March 24th. Finally, the killer Blues and Brews fest will be back in Akron on July 28th and Cleveland Beer Week runs from October 19th-27th.

Signups begin Monday January 2nd at your nearest Winking Lizard. Look for some really cool one-off drafts throughout the year as well, bringing the total number of beers that count for tour credit above 300 and possibly even approaching 400!

2012 is going to be the best tour yet, I’m signing up Monday! Cheers to a Happy New Year with Happy New Beers!

I’ve been waiting for this since I heard of the release in late November when the ‘Beermeister’ of the Winking Lizard told me about this special project. Was the wait worth it?
